Christen was born in April 1767 and his baptism took place on April 17th, 1767.1   Christen's father is Ulrich Kähr and his mother was Cathrina Wälti.  His maternal grandfather is Aaa Ehefrauen Wälti Heimatort unbekannt. He has a brother and a sister, named Peter and Cathrina.  He is the oldest of the three children.
