Barbara was born on July 9th, 1779 and her baptism took place on July 9th, 1779 in Rüderswil.1 2   Barbara's father was Jacob Wälti and her mother was Catharina Röthlisberger.  Her paternal grandparents were Christen Wälti and Elsbeth Wälti. She had two brothers named Christen and Jakob.  She was the oldest of the three children.  She died at the age of 79 on May 26th, 1859.3
