Christen was born on October 12th, 1617 in Biglen.1   Christen's father is Peter Wälti and his mother is Anna Siegenthaler.  His paternal grandfather is Aaa Biglen Wälti. He has four brothers and two sisters, named Christen, Peter, Bendicht, Hans, Catharina and Margreth.  He is the fifth oldest of the seven children.
