Christof was born on March 22nd, 1806 in Belp and his baptism took place there on March 28th, 1806.1   Christof's father was Christoff Wälti and his mother was Elsbeth Meyer.  His paternal grandparents were Hans Wälti and Elsbeth Wüthrich. He had five brothers and a sister, named Hans (Johannes), Christen, Samuel, Peter, Friedrich and Maria.  He was the second oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 66 on February 23rd, 1873 in Bethlehem.  His burial was on February 26th, 1873.2 3
