Ulrich was born in June 1793 and his baptism took place on June 21st, 1793 in Rüderswil.1   Ulrich's father was Hans Wälti and his mother was Elsbeth Aeschlimann.  His paternal grandparents were Ulrich Wälti and Anna Schneider. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Ulrich, Hans (Johannes), Christen, Anna, Elisabeth, Magdalena, Barbara and Maria.  He was the fourth oldest of the nine children. He had a half-sister named Madlen.  He died at the age of 56 on March 22nd, 1850.2
