Melchior was born on March 20th, 1843 in Brienz BE and his baptism took place there on March 26th, 1843.1 2   Melchior's father was Melchior Amacher and his mother was Lucia Eggler.  His paternal grandparents were Kaspar Amacher and Elisabeth Holenweger; his maternal grandparents were Peter Eggler and Luzia Brunner.  He was an only child.  He died  due to Schlagfluss at the age of 62 on November 3rd, 1905 in Unterseen im Spital.3
